Arc 1.0 Launches: The Extraction Protocol Update

The Arc 1.0 Extraction Protocol update delivers a ground-up revision of the extraction system, five new enemy archetypes, a prestige ranks overhaul, and a 30% improvement to server tick rates for North American and European regions.

Arc Raiders 1.0 landed on January 22, representing the most ambitious update since the game's launch. The centerpiece is a complete revision of the extraction system, which had been a source of community frustration since early access. The new system, called the Extraction Protocol, introduces dynamic extraction windows — rather than a fixed extraction point, players must activate a beacon that triggers a 90-second countdown during which the extraction zone is revealed and enemies begin spawning aggressively toward the beacon location.

Five new enemy archetypes joined the roster with 1.0. The Shadow Scout is a stealth unit that cloaks when not actively attacking, making it devastating in ambush scenarios. The Arc Turret is a deployable enemy structure that locks onto players and fires tracking beams — it cannot move but deals high sustained damage and must be prioritized. The Corrupted Drone is a swarmer that deals bonus damage to players under 25% health, rewarding aggressive health management. The Ironclad carries a personal shield that must be depleted before body shots register, forcing players to either burst through the shield or flank for weak-point shots. The fifth archetype, the Shaper, is a boss-tier enemy with reality-warping attacks that alter terrain temporarily — the community has been calling Shaper encounters the most mechanically complex content in the game.

Prestige ranks received a significant overhaul in 1.0. The previous system maxed out at Prestige 10 and offered minimal replay incentives. The new system extends to Prestige 50, with exclusive unlock tiers at Prestige 5, 10, 25, and 50. Each tier grants a permanent stat modifier — starting with a 2% damage bonus at Prestige 5 and scaling up to a 10% all-stat bonus at Prestige 50. These modifiers apply globally and persist across seasons, giving high-hour players a meaningful long-term progression incentive.

Server infrastructure received a substantial investment alongside 1.0. North American and European server tick rates improved from 20Hz to 64Hz — a 30% reduction in server-side input latency that dramatically improves hit registration, particularly for high-fire-rate weapons like the Spectre SMG. Southeast Asian servers received a 15% improvement with plans for a full tick-rate parity update in the Season 3 launch window.

The 1.0 patch also shipped with extensive Quality of Life improvements: a redesigned inventory system with drag-and-drop loadout management, a combat log accessible from the pause menu showing recent damage events and elimination confirmations, and a significantly expanded firing range that now includes all enemy archetypes as target dummies, including the new Shaper boss in a scaled-down training variant.
