Patch 1.4.2: Weapon Balance and Stability Fixes

Patch 1.4.2 addresses long-standing weapon balance concerns, fixes three critical stability issues on the Northern Reach map, and reverts the Sentinel's targeting algorithm to its pre-1.4 state.

Patch 1.4.2 has gone live across all platforms. This update focuses heavily on weapon balance — an area the community has been vocal about since the 1.4 overhaul changed several weapon archetypes without adequate testing on the high-tier meta.

The Sentinel received the most significant adjustment: its pre-1.4 targeting algorithm has been fully restored. The 1.4 changes made the Sentinel's tracking more aggressive but introduced a bug where it would occasionally retarget mid-burst, splitting damage between two players unexpectedly. The revert resolves this while preserving the range adjustments introduced in 1.4.

The Annihilator received a long-requested quality-of-life improvement: proximity detonation now has a 0.3-second arm window after the grenade leaves the barrel, preventing self-damage at extremely close range. This should make the Annihilator significantly less punishing for players who need to fire at point-blank range in emergency situations.

On the stability front, three crash conditions on the Northern Reach map have been patched. These were primarily triggered by the interaction between the Sentinel's smoke-disperse ability and the in-game volumetric fog system, which caused a memory leak on consoles with less than 12GB of RAM. PC players with lower-end hardware should also see improved frame stability in fog-heavy zones.

Additional fixes include: corrected hit registration on the Spectre SMG at ranges above 20 meters (damage now correctly falls off instead of occasionally registering full damage), adjusted the Havoc's visual recoil to better match its actual spread pattern, and fixed an issue where the Fang's Tier IV suppressor would randomly drop after 90 seconds of continuous fire.

Full patch notes are available on the official Arc Raiders forums. The team has also committed to a community balance feedback thread running alongside the Season 3 beta period, giving players a direct channel to influence weapon tuning decisions before the season launches.
