Weapon Tier List

Comprehensive weapon tier list with damage, fire rate, and overall performance rankings for all weapon types.

Weapon Archetypes Overview

Arc Raiders weapons fall into distinct archetypes with different strengths, weaknesses, and optimal use cases. Understanding which archetype fits your playstyle is more important than chasing meta weapons.

Assault Rifles are the most versatile weapon type -- solid accuracy, manageable recoil, acceptable damage, and flexible range. They excel in most situations and are the recommended starting weapon for new players.

SMGs sacrifice range and armor penetration for high mobility and close-quarters fire rate. If you play aggressively and close distance quickly, SMGs reward that playstyle. If you play at range, SMGs become liability.

Shotguns dominate at very close range but are nearly useless beyond arm's length. They reward bold play and punish hesitation. The tradeoff is extreme -- know your engagement distances.

Heavy weapons -- LMGs and launchers -- offer maximum damage but slow movement and long reloads. They excel in defensive positions and suppressive fire but are poor choices for mobile combat.

Tips

  • Master one weapon type before branching out -- understanding recoil patterns and damage profiles deeply matters more than having options.
  • The best weapon is the one you are comfortable with in combat -- meta weapons do not help if you dislike their feel.
  • Weapon handling varies by operator -- some operators have passives that affect specific weapon types, which influences optimal loadout choices.

Assault Rifles Tier List

Arpeggio sits at the top of the AR tier list for its exceptional accuracy-to-damage ratio. It handles well at range, making it the go-to choice for players who need one rifle for all situations.

Crimson is the burst-fire AR for players who prefer landing precise shot groups over sustained fire. Its three-round burst pattern rewards accuracy and punishes panic spraying.

Eclipse is the sustained-fire AR with the highest magazine capacity in its class. If you find yourself reloading mid-fight too often, Eclipse's extended magazine solves that problem.

The Arbalest is the budget AR option that does not sacrifice much for its accessibility. New players who cannot afford top-tier weapons should target Arbalest as their first purchase.

Tips

  • AR accuracy is affected by movement -- ADSing while strafing is more accurate than hip-firing while moving but less accurate than ADSing while stationary.
  • Mods that reduce recoil are more valuable on ARs than damage mods -- stability improves effective damage per second more than raw damage increases.
  • ARs benefit most from optics that match your engagement range -- short-range scopes on long-range AR builds waste the weapon's potential.

SMG and Shotgun Tier List

Fang leads the SMG category with the fastest time-to-kill at close range. Its accuracy falloff beyond close range means it requires aggressive positioning to maximize.

The Viper SMG trades pure speed for better accuracy, making it the choice for players who want SMG handling but occasionally need to engage at medium range.

For shotguns, the Harbinger dominates at close range with one-shot potential. Its extreme spread makes it useless beyond point-blank, but within that range it is the most powerful weapon in the game.

The Basher shotgun takes two shots to kill but has better range than Harbinger. It rewards players who can land follow-up shots quickly.

Tips

  • SMGs are most effective when paired with a secondary pistol -- switching to a pistol when an enemy gets inside your SMG's effective range is faster than reloading.
  • Shotgun users should prioritize mobility mods -- getting inside your effective range faster is more valuable than slightly increasing damage.
  • Both weapon types benefit from armor penetration -- even at close range, enemies wearing light armor reduce your effective damage.

Special and Heavy Weapons

The Reaper sniper rifle is the top special weapon for its one-shot headshot potential on most enemies. It requires accuracy and patience, rewarding deliberate play over aggressive pushes.

Heavy weapons like the Carnage LMG offer sustained suppression and area denial. They excel in defensive positions and against swarm-type enemies but are situational choices for general play.

Launchers like the Mortar deal massive area damage useful against clustered enemies or to flush enemies from cover. Their limited ammunition and slow fire rate make them niche picks.

The Beam weapon archetype deals continuous damage and excels against enemies that do not respect cover. Against standard enemies, Beam weapons are good but not exceptional.

Tips

  • Heavy weapons are worth carrying as secondary options when you expect specific enemy compositions -- bring an LMG to swarm-heavy zones.
  • Sniper rifles require setup time -- if you are taking fire, switch to your primary rather than trying to scope in.
  • Launcher ammo is scarce -- use launchers for priority targets rather than general combat.
